Retail has one of the worst fatal accident and occupational ill-health records of any major employment sector. We will provide guidance in the following areas:

• Manual handling - leads to backpain and musculoskeletal disorders - we will provide a risk assessment of the work environment and make recommendations on how to prevent further injuries
• Slips and trips - most common cause of major injury in the retail sector - caused by cleaning, spillages, poor floor condition and trip hazards
• Violence - includes physical violence and verbal abuse - this require risk assessment and safety measures just like any other possible safety hazards
• Work at height - put checks and precautions in place to prevent falls from ladders, machinery, edges, through roof lights and fragile roofs.
• Workplace transport - You must assess the risk from vehicle movements and take reasonable precautions to ensure that employees and the public are kept safe.
